The 2013 flood in the Kedarnath valley was a disaster. Thousands of people lost their lives, and many are still missing. The Uttarakhand government had suffered greatly as a result of this. Again, the Corona hit made the Yatra even more challenging, both for management and pilgrims.

So, the Uttarakhand government made it mandatory for everyone to register before going to any or all of the Char dham temples, with an expected date to reach there. So that, in the event of a future disaster, the government can easily track each individual and their probable location and evacuate them.

You can get registration from the official website of the Uttarakhand government, i.e., "https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/chardham-yatra-uttarakhand.php" or you can get this from offline counters available at Haridwar / Rishikesh / Rudraprayag and Sonprayag. For this you need to provide them your photo I card like Aadhar card, Driving licence, Voter I card etc and they will do it for you.

You can also refer our blog on the topic of the process of chardham yatra registration. If you are travelling with Manchala Mushafir, you need not worry about anything. We will take care of all these formalities and our executive will complete your registration on time.

Need not to print your registration certificate. Just keep it with you in your mobile in digital form while travelling and produce it whenever you are asked to do so.

Without registration you may not be allowed to continue your chardham yatra so it is recommended to register yourself well in advance to avoid anykind of last minute inconvinience. So what are you waiting for ? Just book your package with Manchala Mushafir now and get all the formalities done on time and avoid last minute rush.

    Chardham Yatra Faq

There are two types of Char dhams. The actual Chardhams are Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri, and Rameshwaram, located on the four sides of India. Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are also Chota Char dham pilgrimages. All of these temples of the Chota Char dham Yatra are in Uttarakhand and are thought to have been visited by the Pandavas in the same order before ascending to heaven.

The price of a Char dham Yatra begins at INR 24,000 per person from Haridwar to Haridwar for 9 Days and 8 night trip, including transportation, meals, hotel stay, yatra registration, guide, etc.

This price may vary depending on your group size and other factors like mode of transportation, quality of hotel, or other added services.

According to the holy scriptures, the Pandavas performed the Chardham yatra before ascending to heaven. They did this in a clockwise direction, meaning first to Yamnotri, then to Gangotri, then to Kedarnath, and at last to Badrinath Dham.

Since then, people are following the same sequence to complete their darshan at all the Char dham temples.

Opening and closing date of temples at Char dham is generally decided by head priest of Ukhimath. But as per the previous trend following are the probable dated of opening and closing of temples.

All four dhams of the Chota Chardham pilgrimage are located at the origin of rivers in India. Yamunotri is dedicated to the Yamuna, Gangoti temple is dedicated to the holy river Ganga, Kedarnath is famous as the home of Lord Shiva, and Badrinath Dham is for Lord Vishnu. Kedarnath temple is on the bank of the river Mandakini, and Badrinath temple is on the bank of the river Alaknanda.

As per the holy scriptures, the first trip to Char dham was done by the Pandavas after the war of Mahabharta. According to some other scriptures, Philosopher Sankracharya (Adi Sankracharya) discovered this Chardham route, which is depicted as the gateway to heaven.

Temples at the Chota Chardham Yatra remain open only for six months in a year, i.e., between May and November. But mid-June to mid-August is rainy season in this area, with a chance of heavy rainfall and land slides. And the months of September to November are notorious for cold winds and heavy snowfall. So, May to mid-June can be considered the most favourable time for the Chardham Yatra.

The Chardham yatra is not particularly difficult. Ya, it's a bit lengthy with some short treks at Yamnotri and Kedarnath, but if you are active in your day-to-day life and have basic physical fitness, then this trip is going to be a cakewalk for you.

Depending upon the mode of transport, the duration of the Chardham yatra will vary a lot. If you are going to take this yatra by helicopter, it is not going to take you more than 5 days. But if you are travelling by road, then you have to plan for at least a 9-day trip to complete it with ease.
