Laka Glacier, which literally means "mouth of snow," is the least marketed but is one of the most famous winter treks in Himachal Pradesh. Located at an altitude of 10,600 feet, this trek offers mesmerizing views to its trekkers with minimum effort. With a small trek of 16 km from McLeodganj (Dharamshala), one can easily get a marvelous view of the Glacier region. In fact, this is one of the easiest glacier treks in India, where with just a 16-kilometer trek, we can reach a glacier region.
Starting from Mcleodganj, the trails of the Laka Glacier Trek will first take you through the Mcleodganj market, which is beautifully decorated with handmade goods and full of Tibetan foods. After the Bhagsunag waterfall, the trail will meander around the dense alpine forest, with a deep valley and the high Dhauladhar range following you throughout the trek. After the Triune Trek, things will get a bit challenging but still be the most beautiful. Tiny houses on the slope of the Dhauladhar range, a deep valley, a snow-covered mountain, and dense forest all around will make a perfect photogenic landscape and will certainly refresh you from within.
