Generally, we start at 7:00 AM from Haridwar railway station. So if you are joining us from Haridwar, ensure you reach the railway station before 7:00 AM. Kedarnath is a town in the state of Uttarakhand that got popular because of the Kedarnath Yatra being carried out each year to visit the temple of Lord Shiva. The literal meaning of the word Kedarnath is 'lord of the field.' It has been a pilgrimage center since ancient times.

The actual trek to Kedarnath Temple will begin from Gaurikund, but if you are planning to book a Kedarnath package with a helicopter, then you can start your journey from Phata, Sersi, or Guptkashi.

Kedarnath Yatra Helicopter Package If you opt for the helicopter service, it will cost you extra. Helicopter tickets can be obtained from Phata, Sersi, and Guptkashi. But from Dehradun, road is the only mode to reach Kedarnath. The route from Dehradun will go like Dehradun to Rishikesh to Devprayag to Srinagar to Dhari Devi Temple to Rudraprayag to Guptkashi to Phata to Sersi to Sonprayag to Gaurikund to Kedarnath. Delhi, the capital city of our country, is one of the most convenient and well connected places near Kedarnath temple. Kedarnath temple is located at a distance of 454 km away from New Delhi, and it will take around 12 to 13 hours to complete the journey by road. You can also take a train or flight till Dehradun and can continue the rest of the journey by road, following the same route stated in the column of Dehradun. The nearest international airport to Kedarnath Temple is Indra Gandhi International Airport, which is also located in New Delhi.
Haridwar is a popular tourist destination in Uttarakhand, renowned for its sacred ghats and famous temples. Kedarnath is another tourist destination in Uttarakhand, and both places are well connected by road. The Haridwar to Kedarnath distance is 239 km, whereas the aerial distance is only 123 km. There is no direct connectivity via air transport, and thus road transport is the best way to reach Kedarnath from Haridwar, and it takes an approximate time of 6 to 7 hours to reach the destination, which is Kedarnath dham.
Yet another beautiful town in Uttarakhand is Rishikesh, which is a bit closer to Kedarnath as compared to Haridwar. Rishikesh to Kedarnath is easily accessible by road in an approximate time of 6 hours. Rishikesh to Kedarnath distance by road is 216 km, whereas the aerial distance is just 105 km, but there is no direct route for aerial travel, and hence the only option left is road travel, where you will travel amid the scenic beauty of nature and feel the essence of nature near yourself.
Due to the extreme weather conditions, the Kedarnath temple remains closed and Kedarnath yatra remains suspended in the winter season. During this time of the year, the temple remains under a thick blanket of snow. So tourists can go on the Kedarnath trip from the end of April to the beginning of November. Another thing that you must know is that the Kedarnath Yatra takes you through Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, and thus, a specific time is allotted for trekkers, that is, 4:00 AM to 3:00 PM. No one will be allowed to trek from Gaurikund after 3:00 PM till 4:00 AM next day.Kedarnath Temple opens at around 5:00 AM in the morning, and closes in the evening after aarti which is perfomend in the compound of temple. Located at a high altitude, Kedarnath features a cold climate throughout the year; hence, it is best visited in the summer. May, June, September, and October are the best times for Kedarnath Yatra because of the soothing weather conditions that allow visitors to explore this place. The winter season has extremely cold weather conditions, with the temperature remaining below zero degrees Celsius along with heavy snowfall. Monsoon season brings heavy rainfalls, increasing the chances of landslides and accidents; hence, it is better to avoid visiting Kedarnath during monsoons.
